Revolutionary City Returns Today

Revolutionary CityColonial Williamsburg opens its award-winning interactive street drama — The Revolutionary City — for a seventh season March 12. Three distinct episodes, presented seven days a week, will run through late November.

“Revolutionary City: The King’s Government Collapses, 1765-1776” — presented Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays — chronicles growing colonial unrest as loyal subjects turn against
their king.

“Revolutionary City: The Challenge of Independence, 1776-1781,” reveals the human drama Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays in war-torn Williamsburg. As both free and enslaved cope with the effects of war profiteering, rampant inflation and other hardships, they ponder their loyalties and what the future holds.

Mondays offer “Building a Nation,” acquainting guests with both well-known and obscure townspeople of 18th-century Williamsburg. Meet patriot leaders, visionary preachers
and other residents — enslaved and free — as they shape a new society with the promise of
liberty and prosperity for all its citizens.
