Was the founders’ wisdom perfect?

“Some men look at constitutions with sanctimonious reverence, and deem them like the arc of the covenant, too sacred to be touched. They ascribe to the men of the preceding age a wisdom more than human, and suppose what they did to be beyond amendment.”

–Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, June 12, 1816

  1. There is plenty happening that the founding fathers could not have predicted. But even though it is not modern thinking, their ideas are still the best guidance we have for this country to stay true to what it means to be American.

  2. No one is perfect but their ideas were pretty darn good.
