Jefferson & Adams on stage July 5-6

Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Abigail Adams meet again on the stage of Colonial Williamsburg’s Kimball Theatre for the performance of “Jefferson & Adams: A Stage Play.” Presented at 7:30 p.m. July 5-6.
First presented at the Kimball Theatre in 2001 as a costumed reading, the play has blossomed into a full stage production featuring the original all-star cast of Colonial Williamsburg’s renowned character historian Bill Barker as Jefferson, Colonial Williamsburg actress Abigail Schumann as Abigail Adams and the popular Sam Goodyear as John Adams.

Written by Howard Ginsberg, the play tells the story of the turbulent 52-year friendship between Jefferson and Adams during the early days of the republic, extending through two wars with England, and closing with their fateful death date on the same day, July 4, 1826—exactly 50 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The play reveals the compelling political debates and passionate personal beliefs that helped shape America at its founding and continue to remain relevant today.
General admission to this stirring production is $12, and admission for seniors and students is $10. Advance tickets are available by calling 1-800-HISTORY.
